Pupil, Sport & Covid Premium Allocations

Pupil, Sport and Covid Premium Allocations

Pupil Premium

Each year the school receives a Pupil Premium Grant under section 14 of the Education Act 2002 (a). This grant provides additional funds to school for each child who is currently or has been at any time in the last 6 years entitled to receive Free School Meals (FSM) and for those children who are ‘Looked After’ by the Local Authority (CLA).

Sport Premium Allocation

Department for Education Vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium

ALL pupils leaving primary school should be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2017 to 2018 academic year to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following 5 key indicators

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sport and activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport
